Uzbek Orientalists in Kazakhstan
February 18-20, this year professors of the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies K.Sh. Omonov and K.P. Sodikov paid a working visit to South Kazakhstan University named after Mukhtor Avezov in order to strengthen cooperation. The university is one of the leading universities in Kazakhstan. It is ranked 480th in the top five universities in the world. The university has 35,000 students, and has currently developed its own concept for future development. According to him, special attention is paid to the internationalization of education. There is also a focus on opening and developing new areas of education. In this regard, the future development of Turkology is also taken into account in the concept of the university. The University of South Kazakhstan plans to cooperate with the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies. The university administration considered the visit of TSIOS professors as the first step towards this cooperation. During the visit, K.Sh. Omonov and Q.P. Sadykov conducted lectures, master classes on ancient Turkic language and its written monuments, manuscripts, seminars and trainings for professors, doctoral students, researchers and masters of the University of South Kazakhstan. In addition, talks were held with the first vice-rector of the university Kayrat Nurmanbetov, the dean of the Faculty of Philology, Professor Bolatbek Tleuberdiev and the head of the Department of Kazakh Language and Literature Nurlibek Omarov. As a result, it was agreed to cooperate in the field of education and science, in particular, to appoint three doctoral students from the University of South Kazakhstan as professors of the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies as the second supervisor. The university administration also expressed interest in defending the research work of its researchers in the field of Turkology at the Academic Council of TSIOS. University administration and professors say Tashkent State Institute for Oriental Studies is a leader in the field of turcology and the study of ancient monuments written in the region. They also noted that they would send their experts and researchers to the institute for training, and cooperation in this area will give good results in the future.
